Velma "Louise" Daellenbach

June 8, 1921 — May 30, 2019

Velma “Louise” (Coley) Daellenbach passed away May 30, 2019 in a Choteau, MT Care facility. Louise was nine days away from turning 98 years old. She was born June 8, 1921 in Rebie, GA and was the oldest of eight children born to Annie Mae (Davis) and Samuel T. Coley.

Louise met Kenneth Daellenbach while she was working in the defense plant outside of Macon, GA and he was stationed at Warner Robins military base. They married in 1944 and Ken shipped out to the war and Louise got on a train to start her new life in Malta, MT. Together they were building a good life on a small farm on the Milk River and suddenly in March of 1954 Ken passed away. Louise was left with five children and their sixth child to be born one month later. Life was hard as well as very rewarding on the farm. Louise worked very hard to keep her family together.

Louise worked at the County Nursing home in Malta from 1966 to 1974. In 1974 she returned to Macon to help her mother and worked at the S & S Cafeteria. From 1979 to 2016 Louise lived in Bozeman and worked at the 4B’s and later for the Senior Companion program. In 2016 she moved to assisted living in Choteau. She had only lived in the nursing home for 9 days prior to her passing.

Louise was very proud of her southern upbringing and very fond of her siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles. She loved to talk about the south and her favorite southern foods. Although she lived so far from her family in Georgia, she was able to stay connected and went back “home” as often as she could thanks to the generosity of her family. Louise never lost her southern accent and was very pleased to tell people that she was from Georgia when they asked about her accent.

Louise will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes and quick smile. She made the most out of her challenging life and worked very hard at everything that she did.

She was a believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we believe that she is happy, healthy and enjoying a wonderful reunion with her loved ones in Heaven.

Thank you, Mom. We’ll see you when we are called home to Heaven.

Louise is survived by her children Annie (Mitch) Blatter of Malta, David of Everett, WA, Edward (Annie) of Spokane, WA and Jackie (Mark) Schlepp of Choteau, MT; siblings Alvin (Meredith) Coley of St. Marys, GA, Wallace Coley, Shirley (Alton) Davis and James (Judy) Greenway all of Macon, GA; daughters-in law Bonnie and Birdie of Billings, MT; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; sons Clyde in 2005 and Willard in 2007; siblings Earl Coley, Bernice Andrews, Evelyn Link and Faye Ferguson; and granddaughter Sheila in 2000.

A celebration of Louise’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service Tribute Center with a burial at Sunset Hills Cemetery, both in Bozeman, MT.
