Sandra Kay Campbell

August 20, 1953 — February 13, 2026

Ennis

Our beloved mom, granny, gigi, and aunt passed away with her family by her side on February 13th, 2026. She fought hard to remain with us and see all her grandkids and great-grandkids grow, but she was tired, and it was time to move on to another place to care for all those who had gone before her. She loved fiercely and pampered everyone she cared for. She lived to make everyone happy in any way she could and spoiled her grandkids and great-grandkids whenever she got the chance. Being a caregiver was a large part of her life, and age made no difference. For many years of her life she took great pride in helping with her honorary granddaughter Jahnna, if they didn’t see each other every day, they talked at night.

Born on August 20th, 1953, in Chester, PA, she loved to tell everyone she was the only white baby girl in the nursery, so it was easy for her daddy to find her. Adding bright red hair helped him as well and shaped her personality. She lived up to her fiery red hair throughout her life. She raised her three children along with two nephews. She also helped numerous other children throughout her years, always being there to talk to and make them laugh with her sharp wit and dirty mind, which she shared with anyone who could take it in stride. Her sense of humor and laugh were infectious.

She loved to have family at her house to cook and bake for. Always wanting to make sure she made whatever they wanted and had more food than an army could eat. She always had sweets galore around, from candy to baked goods.

She managed to get in some great trips over the years with her kids and grandkids. A cross-country road trip to Pennsylvania with her daughter and grandkids, a grand tour of Alaska with her son, a trip to Oklahoma and the Grand Canyon, and many other trips with her family. She loved to go camping and on adventures around Montana with her partner in crime for the last 13 years, Mike. They loved to load up their little camper, side by side, with her dogs and just go enjoy the quiet.

Spoiling her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids with whatever she could afford to do was something she took great pride in. She always said she wanted to see them happy, then try to leave stuff behind when she was gone. She did a great job with this.

Born Sandra Kay Renney, she married Lester Campbell and raised her family together in Pennsylvania and Montana. They had open arms for any family members who needed time to get back on track with their own lives or just get a new path. Numerous nieces and nephews lived with them over the years and were all very loved. Lester preceded her in death after a battle with cancer. She never thought she would get cancer, so she was shocked when she did. She fought hard to beat it, but it just wasn’t meant to be.

She lived by herself and took care of numerous elderly patients at home, helping them remain independent and be spoiled by her. She met Mike Appleby, and they became friends, then partners til the end. They loved being together, doing everything from watching TV to traveling to spending time with both sides of their family.

Sandie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Betty (Caswell) Renney, her sister Cynthia Renney Dean, Lester Campbell, numerous in-laws on both sides, her nephew Dave, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her children Charles (Christina) Renney, Leslie (Larry) Ball, and James (Kimberli) Campbell. Her nephews, Brian (Sarah) Kocher and Billy Kocher. Her grandchildren are Kyla (Lane) Roquet, George (Amber) Ball, James “Bo” Campbell, Elizabeth (Caleb) Ball, Katherine (Rustan) Lucas, Andrew (Faith) Ball, Alyssa (TJ) Thompson, Teagan Renney, Brylee Renney, Ethan and Aubree Kocher. Three great-grandsons Kaynen George Ball, Kasey Lane Roquet, and Bennett Leonard Ball. And one great-granddaughter Parker Elaine Julia Roquet. Her significant other, Mike Appleby. Her sister Gloria Cornelius. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members she adopted throughout her life.

She will be so missed, and we will treasure all the moments we had with her. We will have a memorial for her on August 22, 2026 at her beloved residence in Ennis, Montana. Donations in her name to the Madison Valley Caring and Sharing food bank, where she loved to donate her time and help others with Jahana are welcomed.
