Ruth left this earth peacefully in the early morning of March 19, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born in upstate New York, to Ruth Maynard and Walter Woods and was always eager to share fond memories of where she grew up. She moved to Idaho with her family at the age of 12, completed high school and went on to Boise College to get her teaching degree. Her first job was in Priest Lake, Idaho and it was here she met and married her husband Mike. They moved to Montana in the early 1970s where they raised 4 children. Ruth enjoyed working both in and out of the home and was always a hard worker. A quality she passed on to her children. In between working in the family business, selling horseshoeing supplies, and raising her family, she also enjoyed sorting potatoes at an Amsterdam farm. Ruth will be remembered as a caring, patient and loving homemaker. She was a gentle soul who was kind to all.
Survived by her four children: Anne (Vince) of Tampa, Florida; Julia (Richard) of Linden, Tennessee; Joe (Dez) of Whitehall, Montana; and Diane (Anjan) of Richmond, Virginia; her grandchildren Riley, Jake, Neena, Maddy, Nicholas, and Lily; her great-grandson, Vincent; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Mike, her parents Ruth and Walter, her sisters Caryl, Esther, and Mary Jane, and nephews Tim, Tom and Marc. Many thanks to Parkhaven Assisted Living for making Ruth feel loved, pampered and at home. A celebration of life is planned for June 2026.
