On Wednesday morning, June 24, 2009, Ruth (Thompson) Gordon passed away at her home. She was born in Northwood, Iowa in 1918 to Nettie and Lawrence Thompson. She was the third of four children, sisters Geniveve and LaVonne and brother Newton, all of whom are deceased. Ruth married William W. Gordon in Seattle, Washington in 1944. Following the war, they moved to Montana, pursuing Bill#8217;s career in Forestry. They made their first home at Squaw Creek Ranger Station in the Gallatin Canyon. His career in the Forest Service took them to many districts in the state, eventually residing in Bozeman from 1957 to 2009. Ruth devoted her life to raising her five children. She had a passion for life and was known for her wonderful sense of humor and lively personality. She involved herself in a variety of business endeavors in her lifetime including her favorite business, The Wash-O-Matic. Ruth particularly enjoyed gardening and she loved her flowers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her oldest son, Lawrence. Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Roxanna (Jack) Davant and Bonita (David) Leary, and two sons, Randolph and William Gordon. Her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren brought special joy to her through the years. Ruth had a long and joy-filled life. She will be forever loved, remembered and missed. The family will celebrate Ruth#8217;s life with a graveside service in Bozeman at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel. Friends and family are invited to meet at the funeral home at 1:15, Wednesday to proceed to the cemetery. If desired, memorials in Ruth Gordon#8217;s name may be made to a favorite charity.
