Ronald K. Lewis passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 90 in Bozeman. Ron was born in Bozeman on June 19, 1935, to Evan and Helen Lewis.
Ron attended Holy Rosary School and graduated from Gallatin High. He attended Montana State University for two years.
Early in life, Ron was an assistant manager at Chambers Fisher and also worked for Everett Egbert Construction. Ron was a skilled carpenter and built his family home. Ron spent many years working for TOI, Theater Operators, Inc., and managed at one time or another, all of the local theaters in Bozeman. He also managed the Starlight Drive-In, where he met his future wife, Janice Kincannon.
He served 22 years in the 163rd Infantry Regiment of the Montana National Guard. As a staff sergeant, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal on July 14th, 1989, for his outstanding performance of duties while assigned as construction foreman of the Brigade Engineer Section.
Ron loved the outdoors. He enjoyed gathering and splitting firewood and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also taught many young enthusiasts lifelong skills through local Hunter's Safety classes and was involved for years with the Boy Scouts. His favorite pastime was relaxing at the cabin in Gallatin Canyon with his wife and family, and he became known as the "Mayor of Greek Creek".
Survivors include his loving wife, Janice of 68 years; daughter, LeRita (Terry) McKeever of Loma; sons, Brian of Lewistown, Marshall of Bozeman; granddaughter, Angela (John) Lundwall of Butte; grandson, Kendrick McKeever of Loma; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Evan Lewis of Montana City.
Preceding Ron in death were his parents, Evan and Helen Lewis, and brother, Kenneth Lewis.
Thank you to the caretakers from Eden Health for your kindness and care, and to close neighbors and friends making it possible for Ron to live at home as long as possible.
A Rosary will be held at 3:30 PM, with a Vigil at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 11th, at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 12th, at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish, with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Ron's name to the Bozeman Senior Center.
