Olga Eleanor Campbell

August 4, 1923 — October 3, 2016

Olga Eleanor Campbell, 93, passed to her heavenly home on Monday October 3, 2016, surrounded by her family. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimate peace. Olga lived a long life of service to her church, her community, and youth. She was always ready to help with whatever needed doing. She will be remembered for her loving kindness, her tireless volunteer work, and compassion for those in need. Olga never had an unkind word for anyone.

Olga was the second child born to Scottish immigrants, David Kidd and Ann Laing Kidd, in Butte, Montana on August 4, 1923. She had an older brother, David Laing Kidd. Olga grew up and received her schooling in Butte, and after high school, was employed at Metals Bank.

Olga’s devotion to youth organizations began early. She was an active participant, serving in various capacities in Bluebirds, Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Order of the DeMolay and the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She loved libraries and did significant volunteer work in the schools and at the public libraries.

Olga was a lifetime member in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She was an active member in both organizations.

On June 15, 1946, Olga married her best friend and the love of her life, William T. “Bill” Campbell, in Butte, Montana. They raised five children and eventually moved to Helena when Bill’s job with Montana Power transferred him. They lived in Helena for many years, eventually moving back to Butte, then Whitefish, and then to Belgrade to be closer to their children. Olga became immediately involved in the Presbyterian Church wherever they lived. She served in the churches in various ways including church secretary and treasurer.

Olga was predeceased by her beloved Bill, her brother David, and her parents.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Connie)of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Bruce(Debbie)of Harrison, Montana, Carol (Doug) Zaharko of Kalama, Washington, David(Connie)of Livingston, Montana, James (Tanya) of Missoula, Montana, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her lifelong best friend, Isabel Prowse of Butte, Montana.

Mom, we are all thankful for all the guidance and examples you gave us. A big part of who we are today is a gift from you and Dad. You will never be forgotten and will live on in our hearts forever.

Olga’s family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for their support and loving care during this difficult time. They were always there for her family and for Mom whenever we needed them in spite of the distance they had to travel to get here.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Manhattan Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, Montana, at 11:00 a.m. A reception at the church will follow the services.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts, in Olga’s name, be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 214 Broadway, Manhattan, Montana 59741, Rocky Mountain Hospice, 301 Edelweiss Drive, #5, Bozeman, Montana 59718, Tiny Tails K9 Rescue, P.O.
