Melvin Leroy Hayob from Marshall, MO passed away during the early hours of Monday, August 3 2026 in his home. Mel was born January 15, 1940 to the late John R. Hayob of Marshall MO and Dominga E. Hagedorn from Slater, MO. He was the last of four brothers whom now are all deceased: Wayne, Ken and Don.
‘Mel’ is survived by 2 nieces, Staci Klopfenstine, Jodie Hayob, and had a third niece who passed away in 2025 Becky Hayob. He is also survived by 2 grandnieces Mia Klopfenstine and Morgan Johnson and 1 grand nephew Jakob Klopfenstine.
Mel graduated from the University of of Missouri where he played as full back on the university football team while he studied to be an electrical engineer. His career took him to such wonderful states like New Mexico, Washington and Idaho and his love of adventure landed him on a hunting expedition in Africa. Ultimately, he retired in beautiful Bozeman, MT where he continued his love of hunting, fishing and wrenching on his Triumph motorcycles.
Although he loved the outdoors, he was also a man who had an incredible passion for cooking, would take art classes and enjoyed listening to classical music on his vinyls. He was a true Renaissance man.
There were many sides of Mel. If you called him ‘Melvin’ or pronounced his last name HAY-OB, you would be firmly and instantly corrected but if you asked him about guns, motorbikes or recipes, you would have an instant friend.
Mel lived his life fully and on his own terms. He will certainly be missed but there is no doubt he is with our Lord in heaven taking over management and making improvements.
