Martha Lou (Marty) Daiello

Martha Lou Daiello, 95, of Bozeman, Montana passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at Aspen Point/Birchwood Assisted Living. Marty was born on April 30, 1931, to parents Hugh D. Rainey and Helen Landreth Rainey. She grew-up in Joplin, Missouri and was educated at an Eastern school.

She married Edwin E. McKay on December 29, 1952, and they had three children; they later divorced. She later married Max Thompson and resided in Florida prior to their divorce. On August 5, 1993, she married Thomas Daiello. They lived in Naples, Florida, while spending summers in Bozeman, Montana. Loving Montana, they moved there permanently in 1996 and owned a home together until Tom’s death in 2016. Marty then moved to Aspen Point Assisted Living.

Marty held a strong Catholic faith and had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor until the very end. An avid bridge player, she loved her dogs Gus and Moo and was a strong supporter of Heart’s of the Valley Animal Shelter. Marty traveled the world extensively and always talked about the great people she met along the way. She felt blessed to have so many friends in Bozeman. Marty was generous, compassionate, and the perfect day consisted of a glass of wine with her friends, sitting in her chair doing crossword puzzles and watching Fox News.

Marty is survived by her children, son Hugh McKay (Deanna) Jefferson City, Missouri; son Bob McKay (Terry) Joplin, Missouri; daughter Missy Witter, (Fred) Branson, Missouri; and her brother, William Rainey of Kansas City, Missouri. Her sister Patricia proceeded her in death. She was known affectionally as “Granny” to her 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on October 7th at 12pm after which Marty’s ashes will returned home to Joplin, Missouri and interned at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Missouri.
