Laura Lee Jones

September 22, 1936 — August 3, 2020

Our mother Laura (Wallace) Jones, age 83, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, August 3, 2020, at Highgate Senior Living, in Bozeman, MT. Laura was born in Townsend, MT on September 22, 1936 to Howard and Ruby Wallace. She was raised with her seven siblings on the family Park Trail Ranch, near Toston, MT. Her family moved to Bozeman, MT, while she was in high school and where she met her husband, Ray Jones, in 1958 at Montana State University.

Laura has left behind her two sons, Mike Jones and partner Annette, Randy and wife Ingrid Guest, and daughter, Carrie and husband Ricky Holland; her grandchildren Josh, Jeremy and Zach Jones, Amanda & Austin Guest, and Dustin, Ashly & Annie Holland; and her eleven great grandchildren; her three sisters Dona Wallace, Shirley Miller and Bety Moore; brother Jerry Wallace and their families. She was proceeded in death by her husband Ray, parents Howard and Ruby Wallace, brother Robert and sisters Janie and Sallie.

Laura, her husband, Ray and children spent many years living in San Diego, CA before returning to Montana. Their final years were spent in Helena, MT. They had an adventurous life of hunting, fishing, travel and camping and made many wonderful, lifelong friends along the way. Laura moved back to Bozeman to be near her daughter Carrie’s family, after the passing of Ray.

Laura always worked, in fact, she worked at Macy’s, in Helena, until she was 80 years old. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and dear friends. She spent endless hours out on Canyon Ferry Lake fishing with Ray and friends. We also discovered during her time at Highgate that she loved to paint and dance.

Due to Covid, a private ceremony will be held at the Montana Veteran’s Cemetery Pavilion in Helena, MT, on Wednesday, August 12th, at 1:00 pm, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Ray. Donations may be made in Laura’s name to: https://compassuslivingfoundation.org/.

Our family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at Highgate’s Memory Care Cottage and Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care. Our healthcare workers truly are heroes and should be celebrated each day!
