Lana Breeton Papke Smith
Lana passed away on March 5, 2018 with her family by her side after a short, but hard-fought battle with cancer. Lana was born on June 24, 1945 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Henry and Murial Breeton. In her youth her large family ended up relocating to Montana and the Bozeman area, which was her home until her passing. She married Donny Papke and had four children through this marriage before they divorced. Her career as a waitress spanned for over 30 years working at the Kountry Korner Kafe at Four Corners and the Western Café in Bozeman, doing what she could for her children.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Wendy Papke, step-father Carl and her mother Murial Branstetter (Bozeman, MT), brother Danny Breeton (Bremerton, WA), sister Darlene Harrington (Butte, MT), sister Barbara Burch (Bozeman, MT), sister Sandra Schimetz (Clallum Bay, WA), brother Monte Breeton (Bozeman, MT) and her twin brother Larry Breeton (Butte, MT).
She is survived by her children Bill Papke (Bozeman, MT), Don Papke and wife Michaela (Belgrade, MT), daughter Heidi Nelson (Roseburg, OR) and her grandchildren Andy and Landon Nelson (Roseburg, OR), her sister Beverly Bryan (Belgrade, MT), step-sister Dixie Smith (Bozeman, MT), sister-in-law Jan Breeton (OR), brother-in-law Bill Burch (Bozeman, MT), sister-in-law Chris Breeton (Helena, MT), as well as numerous nieces and nephews from all over the Northwest.
A special thank you to Greg and Marcie Marshall and Dawn Burch for all the help and loving care that you provided in her pain and passing.
In lieu of flowers and donations, take someone you care for out to breakfast or lunch at an old-fashioned café and give that tired, hard working waitress a nice tip in memory of mom.
Cremation has taken place and a family and friend gathering will be held in the warmth of the summer.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlcares.com.
