Kailey “KP” Elaine Pierce, 28, of Ennis, passed away April 21, 2024, in the presence of her loving family following a brief illness. KP was born in Bozeman, MT, and raised in Ennis, MT, with her sister Andie, mother Gen, and dad Jon. She went to school at Ennis Public Schools. KP always loved remembering her kind classmates who were always giving her fist bumps and making her feel included. She really loved participating in the Special Olympics, and was the recipient of the “Yes I Can” Award, which celebrates the achievements of children and youth with exceptionalities.
KP’s hobbies and interests included anything Disney, Harry Potter, and characters who played the prince. One of her favorite pastimes was collecting pens, paper, receipts, cardboard boxes, and a whole list of other items too numerous to note. A huge part of KP’s happiness in life was waking up in the morning (or even at 3 am) to pick out her outfits for the day – which usually included sneakers, gym shorts, a button-down shirt, bowtie, and a fancy hat. She was always going out in style.
KP will be remembered most for her ability to attract and connect with people, whether it’s waving and having a five-minute conversation with individuals at the local grocery store or making an impact on the people she met Jeepin’ in Utah with her parents. A lot of people were truly her biggest fans. Arguably KP was the sassiest little boss at times, but everyone knew not to take offense because that was a big part of KP’s character.
In a way, KP was kind of famous in the community of Ennis, and the Pierce family expresses their gratitude to everyone who showed support, loved, and cared for their KP these last 28 years. She passed away, comfortable and happy, with her family right by her side. There are not enough words to describe how much she will be missed.
KP was preceded in death by her grandparents, “GP” Edward E. Houghton and “GM” Elizabeth F. Houghton; and Willy Joe Pierce and Zola Inamae Pierce; and her “Gramma Shu”, Edna Schumacher, who helped provide care and oversight for KP for many years. KP is survived by her loving parents; her adoring sister, Andie; her BFF Kenzie Mueller; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Pierce household later this summer. Details will be announced when the family has come to a decision.
