Julie Kathleen Maxwell

Julie Kathleen Maxwell, age 81, passed away in Bozeman, MT, on July 2, 2025, after having lived a good life. She was born in Ann Arbor, MI, to Wayne and Gigi Maxwell, and grew up with her sister Connie in Kewanee, IL, an idyllic small rural town. From early childhood, she was an avid horse rider. When Julie went to the University of Denver in Colorado, she developed a passion for the mountains and sports cars.

Julie moved to Chicago after graduating and became a major real estate broker in the famed “Gold Coast” area. During this time, she had two daughters, Kelly and Christina Kirby, both of whom shared their mother’s love of horses and mountains. Then, in 1997, Julie moved to Bozeman and opened a cosmetics business downtown while continuing her real estate activities by investing in nearby properties.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Kelly M. Kirby of Bozeman, and her niece, Nancy Jorgensen (and family) in Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Connie, and her daughter Christina K. Sweet.
