Jon Paul Loomis

February 15, 1965 — May 1, 2026

Jon Paul Loomis, 61, of Butte, Montana, and Guadalajara, Spain, passed away suddenly on May 1st, 2026, with his loving wife, Marisa, and their son, Brandon, by his side.

Jon was born on February 15, 1965, to Mary and Roland “Buck” Loomis. He grew up in the nurturing embrace of his maternal grandparents, Jed and Lucille Hoopes, where lessons of kindness, resilience, and hard work became part of the fabric of his character. Through the loving influence of his aunts and uncles, Jon blossomed into the caring and compassionate man so many came to know and love. Some of his fondest memories were made alongside Grampa Jed in the Highlands, where searching for gold revealed treasures far greater than anything found in the earth.

A proud graduate of Butte High School’s Class of 1983, Jon soon exchanged his cap and gown for a military uniform, serving honorably in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Spain, he met the love of his life, Marisa. Together, they shared more than three decades of adventure, partnership, and unwavering love, building a beautiful life centered around family and the joy of raising their son, Brandon.

Jon was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Jed and Lucille Hoopes; his mother, Mary Childs; his cousin, Patrick O’Connell and brother-in-law Mat Metcalf. His stepfather, Arthur Childs passed away a few days after Jon.

He is survived by his wife, Marisa, and son, Brandon, who live in Guadalajara, Spain, his father, Buck Loomis (Anne Gret) of Butte. His siblings—Amy Metcalf of Idaho Falls, ID, Ginger Lienemann (Ryan) of Billings, MT, and brother KC Childs of Idaho Falls, ID as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.
