Bozeman

Jeanne Luce Kuhn Davis, known to most as Jeannie or JLK Davis, was born on November 12, 1937, at Women's Hospital in Detroit, Mich., to Harvey and Lois Luce. Her father once described her as "the prettiest, most sparkling thing on two feet," and she spent the rest of her life proving him right.

Born to two fine artists, she boldly embraced life as its own art form, to be lived with flair, strength, grace, humor, and an Hermès scarf around her neck. A legendary hostess, she threw fabulous parties and was an accomplished cook who learned at her French mother-in-law’s side and loved nothing more than nurturing friends and family at her table.

After graduating from Cranbrook Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., where she played field hockey and excelled at weaving, she married Eric Daniel Kuhn in 1956 in New York City. During their marriage, they lived in Naples, Italy; Geneva, Switzerland; and Paris, France and had three children: Vincent Gardner Kuhn, Anthony Norman Kuhn, and Eleonore Luce Kuhn Snow. They divorced in 1974.

On Friday, August 13, 1976, Jeannie married the love of her life, David E. Davis, Jr., an automotive journalist. Their life together was filled with travel, exciting cars, cherished friendships, grand adventures, and many extraordinary meals shared around the world.

Dogs held a special place in Jeannie’s heart, and many joked that their dream was to be reincarnated as one of her four-legged friends because of how thoroughly she spoiled them. It began with Bonny, her childhood collie, and continued through a lifetime of beloved companions: Sammy Pup-pup, Red, Ruby, Jones, Jeeves, Bella, Tavi, Pucci, and Pip.

After living in Ann Arbor and Charlevoix, Michigan for 40 years, Jeannie moved to Bozeman in 2015. There she built a full and vibrant life, forging lasting friendships with the VanDeWalle family, her pals from exercise classes and lunches at the Bozeman Senior Center, and fellow dog lovers at the Snowfill Recreation Area. Until the death of her beloved Spinone, Pip, in December 2024, Jeannie trekked the dog park every single day, braving every kind of Montana weather, with her signature walking stick and oversized glasses. Jeannie died peacefully on October 14, 2026, in Bozeman, Montana, surrounded by her three children, their spouses, and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Vincent Kuhn, Anthony Kuhn, and Eleonore Snow; her grandchildren Amelie Kuhn, Marie Kuhn Snow, Pierre Henri Kuhn, Hélène Kuhn, Charles Kuhn, Alexandra Kuhn, Isabelle Kuhn, Ava Snow, Jack Snow; and her great-grandchildren Eli Snow, Olive Snow, Justine Malavoy, Joachim Malavoy, Vida Sekularac, Olympia Sekularac, Maja Kuhn Cheremuchina, Miles Kuhn Cheremuchina, Antonia Binnion-Kuhn, and Cléo Binnion-Kuhn. A celebration of Jeannie’s life will be held at Snowfill dog park in Bozeman next summer, with details to follow.
