Irving Lenard Johnson

February 14, 1947 — August 20, 2021

Irving Lenard Johnson, of Bozeman, Montana, passed in peace on August 20, 2021. Irv was born Valentine's Day, February 14, 1947, in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, to Lee and Alice Johnson.



Irv graduated from Green Bay Preble High School, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in 1965. Following high school, he went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.



On June 21, 1969, Irv married Judy (Gerndt) in Suring, Wisconsin.



Irv's memory will live on thru his wife, Judy, his son, Danny, his granddaughter, Emma, and her fiancé Taylor Mussard, as well as his sister, Susan (David), his brother, Greg (Sue Ann), and numerous family and friends. Irv was preceded in death by his son, Brian Scott, and his parents.



Irv was always a salesman at heart. After college he worked in management positions with Bake Rite Baking Co. in both Stevens Point and Tomahawk, Wisconsin. In 1980 it was a management position with Tombstone Pizza Company which brought he, his wife Judy, and their two sons, Danny, and Brian, to Bozeman, Montana.



In 1992 Irv decided it was again time for a change. With that decision he and Judy purchased a multifunctional and multi-tenant building in Fort Peck, Montana; where they owned and operated the restaurant and grocery store portion of the building. As Irv's Interest in real estate grew, he obtained and maintained both a real estate broker and an auctioneer license.



Irv had many interests and was involved in a number of community-minded projects. He served on the Board of Directors of the Fort Peck Interpretive Center, where he was instrumental in its formation and eventually the building it now occupies. He also served on the Board of Directors of the St. Marie Development Corp. He had a profound interest in recycling and did significant research into the catalytic pressure-less depolymerization process.



He had a great sense of humor and was an avid reader, especially in the area of natural health. He loved fishing, hunting, and taking trips to Alaska and Russia, but also enjoyed showing horses, beekeeping, and mountain blue bird trails.



A Celebration of Life will be held for Irv Friday, August 27, 2021, with visitation starting at 10:30am at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30am at Sunset Hills Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at Gallatin Gateway Community Center.
