H. Dan McReynolds, 75, of Gallatin Gateway, MT, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at home in the loving arms of his wife of 49 years, Linda.
Dan was born on March 26, 1948, in Bozeman, MT. He was the youngest of four sons born to James and Anna-Marie McReynolds (née Ryen). He received his education in Bozeman and was a graduate of the Bozeman High School class of 1966. He would have received a Bachelor’s degree from Montana State University, were it not for his refusal to take P.E., as he was milking dairy cows every day, both morning and night.
On April 12, 1974, Dan was united in marriage to Linda McReynolds (née Hoffman), by Justice of the Peace Brown in Reno, NV. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Morgan and Tyler McReynolds. Dan resided in Gallatin Gateway, MT, where he and Linda made their home with their children for the remainder of his life. They shared 49 beautiful years of marriage.
Dan was a committed farmer and rancher on the land his family originally homesteaded four generations prior. A man of few words, he took quiet pride in working the land and raising cattle, all the while teaching his two sons all he could on the subject.
Dan enjoyed traveling with his wife to far off destinations, including Italy, Russia, Germany, Tanzania and Costa Rica. He also enjoyed hunting, accompanying his sons on many hunts and excursions. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Above all, he adored being a Grandfather to his three young grandchildren.
Dan is survived by his wife, Linda, of Gallatin Gateway, MT; his boys, Morgan (Jessica) McReynolds, of Gallatin Gateway, MT, and Tyler (Kelsey) McReynolds, of Miles City, MT; grandchildren, Lander McReynolds, Locklyn McReynolds and Skyler McReynolds; nephews, Matt McReynolds of Gallatin Gateway, MT, and Mike (Leda) McReynolds, of Hilger, MT; niece, Tawni Teply, of Bozeman, MT; as well as many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna-Marie; his brothers Pat, Tom and Ray; and his niece Tana.
A Celebration of Dan’s Life is planned for Spring 2024.
