Gloria May Beck, 82, formerly of Havre, Montana, passed away from natural causes on August 19, 2026, at her residence in West Yellowstone, Montana.
Gloria was born in Havre on May 21, 1944, to Melvin “Shorty” and Florence (Whetham) Cross. She was the second oldest of five children and was raised and educated in Big Sandy, Montana. In 1965, she met Charles “Leonard” Beck, who matter-of-factly told her, “You’re going to the movies with us,” on a double date with Gloria’s cousin Carolynn and Leonard’s brother Roy.
The date went well, and Gloria and Leonard were married in February 1966. They were inseparable for 57 years, until Leonard’s passing in August 2023. The couple had seven children and eventually settled on the Beck family ranch southwest of Havre, where Gloria made a home for her family.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking, canning, and gardening, as well as the companionship of her cats, dogs, and many farm animals over the years. In later years, she especially cherished time with her adult children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents, “Shorty” and Florence; two brothers, James “Jim” and Robert “Bob”; and two sisters-in-law, Cindy (Jimmy) Cross and Bertha (Ralph) Cross.
She is survived by her sons, Russell (Marlyn Hardman) Beck and Charles “Jr.” (Sharon) Beck; daughters, Arlene Carr, Roxanne Beck, Charlene “Charly” Beck, Sonya Barkley, and Tonya (Billy Smith) Beck; brother, Ralph Cross; sister, Bonnie (Lynn) Heggen; sister-in-law, Pam (Bob) Cross; and brothers-in-law, Ralph (Lorraine) Beck and Roy (Carolynn) Beck. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation has taken place, and graveside services will be held on August 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Cemetery in Havre, Montana, with a reception to follow at the Quality Inn Conference Room.
Dahl Funeral and Cremation Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
