Gallatin Gateway

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frankie Charlotte Lynch, a beloved wife to Neil J. Lynch, and devoted and loving mother to Kim, Anne Marie, Joe, Marcy and Kelly, on the 8th day of May, 2026, at the age of 88, of Gallatin Gateway, Montana.

Charlotte was born on October 7, 1937, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Florence Covington and Frank Sparks. Charlotte’s mother, Florence Covington, was one of (15) children and her father, Frank Sparks, came from a family of (9). Despite this large extended family, Charlotte grew up as an only child, but was raised surrounded by many of her cousins during her childhood in Knoxville and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She attended The East Tennessee Baptist Hospital Nursing Program, in Knoxville, Tennessee to become an R.N.. While continuing her nurse’s training in Washington, D.C., she met and married Neil J. Lynch, on April 4, 1959, at the St. Stephens Catholic Church during the Cherry Blossom Festival. Their first child “Kimberly” was born in Washington, D.C., and thereafter they relocated back to the State of Montana, where they had their second daughter “Anne Marie” born in Butte, Montana, while the family resided in Madison Canyon. Neil (Joe) was born in Great Falls, Montana, and the last two daughters “Marcella” and “Kelly” were born in Butte, Montana, where the family resided for over forty years. In 2005 Neil and Charlotte relocated to Gallatin Gateway in Gallatin County, Montana.

While living in Butte, Charlotte worked at the Care Alcoholic & Drug Unit at St. James Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She also managed the John Henry’s clothing store and the ABC Tool and Rental Equipment Company. Charlotte was also the President of the Butte Junior League and President of the Butte Silver Bow Democratic Woman’s Club.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Kim (Donald O’Hair), Anne Marie (Len DeClercq), Joe Lynch, Marcy (Brian Gallup) and Kelly (Jason Griswold); Grandchildren Paul, Clare, Levi, Bo, Marisa, Josh, Charissa, Christine, Brilee and Ellis; Great Grandchildren Mackenzie, Ryann, Karter, Kalli, Felix and Ewan; as well brother & sister-in-law Jim & Cathy Lynch of Chico, California, Sister-in-law Zenda Koch, of Billings, Montana, and many nieces and nephews and loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Florence & Bob Covington, Frank & Katherine Sparks, and by her beloved husband Neil J. Lynch.

During the summer months she found some of her greatest joy outdoors, surrounded by the beauty she created with her own hands. Her garden was more than just flowers and plants, it was a reflection of her gentle spirit, patience, and love for life. Over the last few years she could often be found outside reading a book, enjoying the sunshine, and taking in the peace and beauty of nature. Her patio became a welcoming place filled with color, warmth, and love, much like the way she cared for her family and friends.

Charlotte was well known as one of the kindest and most gentle souls you could ever meet. She truly was a sweet and compassionate person who put others before herself. She was also known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her children and grandchildren. Charlotte’s love, compassion, and gentle spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
