Eileen Mildred Moddrell

Eileen Mildred Moddrell, 81, passed away peacefully in Vale OR on Jan 8, 2026. She was born to Emmett and Mildred (Surface) Carter, and older sister to Peggy Carter Lawhon.

Eileen grew up East of Bozeman where she attended and graduated from Mount Ellis Academy. She started working at Hillcrest as a nurse aide right out of school. She met and married Carl Moddrell, they made their home for 3 years in Great Falls, till Carl took a job for the school district in Bozeman. They then made their home out at four corners where they raised their only daughter. After getting moved Eileen then went to work for Bozeman Deaconess Hospital where she stayed for 30 years. Her nursing skills still came in handy after retirement, her and Carl retired to Three Forks, where after a couple years Carl fell ill with kidney problems. She would volunteer at the hospital while he was getting dialysis. After his passing her own health would take a turn and she moved to Vale OR to be with her daughter and family.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Emmett and Mildred Carter, her sister Peggy Carter Lawhon and her husband of 45 years Carl Moddrell. She is survived by her daughter Denise(Tim) Palmer, granddaughters Debbie and Julie, her great grandkids, Clair, Cleo, Damon, Mason, and Colton all of Vale OR., nieces Stephanie and her family, Helen and her family, Tammy and her family, Jody and her family. Nephews Scott and his family and Colin and his family, sister in law Judy (Bill) Clampet.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 2, 2026 at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
