Carol (Randich) Graham

Carol (Randich) Graham, 86, of Whitehall, Montana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 14, 2026, with her beloved dog and her daughter by her side.

Carol was born on December 24, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Mario and Angelian (Sermiack) Randich. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Kathy (Randich) Godin; and the love of her life, her husband, Charles Robert Graham.

While Carol enjoyed many chapters throughout her life, the work that meant the most to her was opening her heart and home to children. Alongside her husband, she devoted years to serving as a foster parent, providing love, stability, and hope to children who needed it most. She continued that calling throughout her life, remaining a steadfast advocate for children and families.

Carol found joy in life's quiet moments. She loved reading, challenging herself with crossword puzzles, and creating arts and crafts of every kind. She shared her faith by working with youth at church and serving as a leader in the Girls Friendly Society, encouraging young people with humility, kindness, patience, and compassion. 

Long before email and text messages became commonplace, Carol treasured handwritten letters and greeting cards. She delighted in sending notes to family and friends and carefully saved the cards and letters she received in return. Each one was a reminder that relationships were life's greatest treasure.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Chiara (Graham) Schober; her son-in-law, Timothy Schober; and her beloved granddaughters, Lillian and Amelia, who lovingly knew her as Babcia.

Those who knew Carol will remember her gentle heart, her resilience, her quick wit, and her enduring love for her family. Even in her final days, she could still bring a smile with a perfectly timed comment. 

A Celebration of Carol's Life will be held on Friday, August 7, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Whitehall Community Center, 11 N. Division Street, Whitehall, MT 59759. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories, laughter, and a meal. This will be an informal gathering, and guests are welcome to join us at any time during the evening.

Carol loved a good potluck, so in her honor, we invite you to bring a favorite dish to share. Please also bring a recipe card. One of Carol's greatest joys was collecting letters, cards, and the little pieces of people she loved. To continue that tradition, we hope to create an old-fashioned church cookbook filled with the recipes of family and friends to share with everyone who loved her. Carol believed that love was something you gave away freely, whether through a handwritten note, an open door, a listening ear, or a place at the table. She leaves behind a family, extended family, and friends who will forever smile when they hear an old song, enjoy an extra spoonful of dessert, or remember that sometimes love is found in the smallest acts of kindness.
