Bill Frank

October 23, 1952 — May 9, 2026

Three Forks

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we celebrate the life of and mourn and the death of Bill Frank. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 23, 1952 to Sydney and Evelyn Frank. He grew up in Van Nuys, California. After graduating from Cal State Northridge with a degree in music, he worked for a summer at Glacier National Park and fell in love with Montana. Bill decided to attend graduate school at MSU in Bozeman where he earned a Master’s Degree in Education and met his wife, Lucy, who was also a music major. They were married on December 22, 1979 at Resurrection Parish. They have three children; David, Julie and Becky.

Over the course of 35+ years Bill taught music at various schools in Montana including Twin Bridges, Troy, Butte, Willow Creek and Three Forks where the family made their home. He loved every minute of it; so much so that he “retired from teaching 3 times” only to come back again to play mandolin for a school choir at a music festival a few weeks before he passed. In addition to teaching music, Bill also drove buses and coached Jr. High Football. In addition to teaching music, Bill played in the Bozeman Municipal Band for many years where he periodically served as the conductor for the group.

Bill was also very involved with the music ministries at Holy Family Parish in Three Forks and at Resurrection University Catholic Parish in Bozeman where he sang, and played guitar. After losing his sight this past year, he learned to play mandolin so he could continue to make music with his church friends.

Bill also was instrumental in establishing the Three Forks Area Ambulance where he served as a volunteer for over 20 years.

He passed away on May 9, 2026 and is survived by his wife, Lucy Frank, children David, Julie, and Becky Frank, and grandchildren Gia, Gracie, Alivia, and Lainey Frank. A vigil will be held on Wednesday May 20 at 7:00 P.M. at Dahl Funeral Home in Bozeman. A funeral Mass will be on Friday May 22 at 9:00 at Resurrection Parish Church followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Bozeman MT.
