Bert LeRoy Redd was born in Grand Junction, CO on November 10, 1956, to Bert W. Redd and Faye V. Redd. The family lived in Mesa, CO and there Darrell Redd, his younger brother joined the family. They moved to Twin Falls, ID when he was in Junior High and then moved again to Kimbery, ID shortly after. This is where he met Gene Montgomery in their 9th grade Math class. The two were married two years later in the beginning of their Junior year. The young couple moved back to Twin Falls and then to Wenatchee and Quincy, WA. LeRoy joined the Washington National Guard on March 3, 1975, where he served as a cook and Military Police. He was discharged on October 13, 1977, and continued his service In the Army Reserve in Bozeman, MT until 1981.
Leroy worked at Gallatin Homes for several years before joining his Dad at Bert’s Auto Care. Their eldest son, Wayne LeRoy was born June 14, 1978, followed a year later by Jeannie Marie in 1979. Daniel Ray was born in 1981 and the baby of the family, Michael Bert was born in 1982.
Leroy was working for Payless Drug in Bozeman, MT in 1992 when he had an unfortunate accident resulting in a nasty fall and a severely broken back and knee. This accident is where his life of 32 years of constant pain, numerous surgeries, pills and procedures began.
In 1997 LeRoy lost his eldest son, Wayne during his training for the United States Army.
He started Redd-E-Sharp Sharpening Services in 1998 and operated that until he retired in 2017.
LeRoy became active in the LDS Church in December of 1997 where he served many different callings including Ward Mission Leader, Executive Secretary, Stake Missionary, which was one of his favorite callings, Nursery Leader and other leadership positions.
LeRoy had a servant's heart and was always looking out for those that needed a helping hand. This is something he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
LeRoy had a fierce Love and protection of his Family. He left this world in the early morning hours of April 4, 2024, in his home. LeRoy was preceded in death by his son, Wayne LeRoy Redd; his father, Bert W. Redd; his daughter-in-law, Holly Redd and special K9 companion, Tucker.
