William 'Bill' Harvey Thomas

William “Bill” Harvey Thomas passed away January 1, 2015. He was born May 7, 1928 in Bozeman, MT to Benjamin and Vera (Kincaid) Thomas. Bill was raised in Bozeman and attended Story Mill School and graduated from Gallatin County High School. He attended University of Montana and Montana State University, earning a Master’s of Business Administration. He served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He married Patricia J. Evans June 14, 1953 in Butte, MT. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ranching. He volunteered at the Gallatin Valley Food Bank and was involved with the Wounded Warriors project. He took part in getting brass memorial plaques for veteran’s grave sites. He worked for Boeing and lived in Seattle for 30+ years before retiring to his home in Bozeman in 1998. Bill was preceded in death by: his wife, Patricia; son, Paul Evan Thomas; and brothers, Benjamin H. Thomas and Donald W. Thomas. He is survived by: his son, Ralph B. (Terri Ann) Thomas of Gardnerville, NV; daughter, Sally J. (William) Kaufman of Gypsum, CO; twin sister, Lillian Louise Carlson of Helena, MT; sister, Helen Thomas of San Francisco, CA; brother, David Morriss Thomas of Fairfield, CT; grandchildren, Kelby J. Kaufman and Kiefer P. Kaufman of Gypsum, CO, Charles P. (Valerie) Thomas of Roseville, CA; and great-grandchildren, Parker Thomas and Griffin Thomas of Roseville, CA. A graveside service with full military honors will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to meet at Dahl Funeral Chapel at 12:45 pm to proceed to the cemetery. A reception will follow at the Lazy T Ranch, residence of William Thomas.
