Willard "Bill" Warnock

January 24, 1942 — September 19, 2018

Willard “Bill” Warnock passed away peacefully at his home in West Yellowstone on September 19, 2018. He enjoyed living in West Yellowstone near Yellowstone National Park which he visited frequently because of his love of the geysers and other beautiful scenery. He had a lifelong love of learning and loved to travel and meet new people. Bill leaves many loving friends and family throughout the world. He especially loved his Episcopal/Lutheran congregation and Pastors in Big Sky, Montana.



Bill was born and raised in Loveland, Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.A. in 1964, majoring in International Affairs. He obtained a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University in 1966. He then worked with the Institute of International Education for 12 years in Denver and then New York City. IIE administered the Fulbright, Ford Foundation, UNESCO programs in higher international educational exchange. He then studied theology at Trinity College, an Anglican seminary in Bristol, England receiving a Diploma in Missiology. Bill then worked from 1980-2000 with World Vision International, a Christian relief and development agency. He spent nearly 10 years as Country Director, World Vision Jerusalem/West Bank/Gaza and then as Country Director in Bosnia-Herzegovina. After that he moved to West Yellowstone, Montana, and served for 10 years as a Consultant to the US Army providing training in peacekeeping operations for troops being deployed to Bosnia and later the Middle East.



Bill is survived by his sister Jean Warnock Mackey, brothers John Warnock and David Warnock all of Loveland, Colorado and numerous beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Ann Hopp, her son William John Hopp and his parents Margaret Mast Warnock and Willard Angove Warnock.



A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 3:00pm, Big Sky Chapel, 510 Little Coyote Road in Big Sky with a reception at the church following the service.
