Veronika Guillard

May 28, 1921 — October 14, 2009

VERONIKA GUILLARD of Big Sky passed away October 14, 2009 at Evergreen Health Rehab in Livingston of natural causes. Veronika was born in Gerlafingen, Switzerland to Josef and Julia Glanzmann on May 28, 1921. She was the third youngest child in a family of ten. She grew up in the beautiful Alps of Switzerland and stayed close to her large family until she met Frederick Schwarb. They soon married and moved to Geneva, Switzerland where they had four children. In 1952 Fred had a job opportunity in Detroit, Michigan and the family moved there. Adjustment to a new area, new language, and new way of life was not easy for Veronika. She missed her family but eventually adjusted quite well. Fred and Veronika were divorced in 1976. Veronika later married John Guillard who was also Swiss. Veronika and John enjoyed retirement. They frequently traveled to Switzerland and Europe as well as all over the United States and Canada. In 1993 Veronika moved to Montana where they lived until John#8217;s death in 1994. She later lived with her daughter, Denise, in Big Sky. Veronika was a wonderful seamstress, gourmet cook, and baker. She also had a beautiful garden, specializing in pink roses. Above everything else, she loved her family, including spending time with her grandchildren. Veronika was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, both her husbands, and her oldest daughter, Danielle. She is survived by her children, Denise (Barry) Margetts of Big Sky, Marcel (Gale) Schwarb of Edmonds, Washington, Bernard (Colleen) Schwarb of Michigan, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
