Vernon Kirscher

Vernon M. Kirscher, 85, of Belgrade passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at his home. He was born on September 11, 1923 in Livingston, Montana to Alvin and Mamie Kirscher. Vernon served in the Navy on the USS Execute, a minesweeper, in the Asiatic Pacific Area from April 1944 to his Honorary Discharge in April 1946. On February 20, 1950, Vernon married Pauline Jahner in Livingston. He was involved in ranching in Clyde Park, Montana. He later owned and operated a small engine repair shop in Hayden, Idaho before moving to Belgrade. Vernon loved being outdoors, where he was an avid hunter, fisher, and hiker, especially in Fall Creek. He also enjoyed motorcycles. Vernon is survived by his wife Pauline Kirscher; three children, Glenda (Ron) Myrstol of Livingston, Keith (Pam) Kirscher of Hayden, Idaho, and Karen (Lee) Anderson from Billings, Montana; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Kevin) Ray of Yelm, WA, Denese (Tom) Lingle of Sublimity, OR, Jason Myrstol of Livingston, Maggie Kirscher and Grace Kirscher, both of Hayden, ID; five great-grandchildren, Haley Conners, Bailee Willett, Adam Lingle, Andrew Lingle, and Kaden Myrstol, as well as one sister, Iris McCampbell of Missoula, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Dale Kirscher, two brothers, and one sister. Funeral Mass will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at St. Mary#8217;s Catholic Church in Livingston. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in Vernon#8217;s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
