Ruth Elizabeth Sem

Ruth Elizabeth Sem passed away October, 27, 2014. She was born November 24, 1920 in Watertown, SD to Homer and Minnie (Wadleigh) Yetter. At a young age, Ruth’s family moved to Minot, ND. She attended school until the eighth grade and then began working to help the family. She married Vernon L. Sem on August 24, 1940 in Minot. The couple later moved to Long Beach, CA where she worked as a welder in the shipyards during WWII and as a waitress. They moved to Bozeman in 1980 to be closer to her children. Ruth was a wonderful mother and friend. She dedicated her life to the Lord and was a loyal member of the Bozeman Christian Center. In her later years she loved travelling with the Bozeman Senior Center. Ruth’s family wishes to thank the following people for their professionalism, care, compassion, skills, ability to make Ruth feel loved and part of a family, and most of all dignity: Rod and Faith Vanover (owners of Vanover’s and Open Arms Assisted Living) and their staff; the nurses and aides at Mountain View Care Center, Cathy Dyksterhouse, Holly Kenyon, Sierra O’Brien, Mary Lassner, Emily Herzog, Liz Millirnen, Taylor Odenback, and Cari Chapman; and the nurses from Hospice of Bozeman Deaconess, especially Joyce, for making the last days with our mother filled with comfort and keeping us aware of her journey into God’s arms. Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; sisters Elsie Creviston, Doris Williamson, and Eva Siska; and grandson Steven Sem. She is survived by: her son Vern (Joyce) Sem; daughter Yvonne (Clay) Fracchiolla; sister Frances Bowman; brother Milton Yetter; grandchildren Brian Woods, Cheryl Woods, Selene Solis, Sabrina Harback, Shannon Tagg, and Christy Merrill; great-grandchildren Hayden Woods, Sage Woods, Sarah Harback, Amy Harback, Christopher Harback, Madison Tagg, and Spencer Tagg; great-great-grandchildren Alex, Kobe, and Khole; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Center Building Fund (921 W. Mendenhall St., Bozeman, MT 59715) or to a charity of choice. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 6-8:00 pm at Dahl Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Dahl Funeral Chapel followed by a reception.
