Roselyn J Azure

Roselyn Azure, 76 years of age, peacefully passed on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.


Roselyn was born August 19, 1946, in Browning, MT to Francis and Annie Wall. She was the second youngest of eight children. Roselyn was educated in the Browning, MT school system. She graduated high school at 17 years of age.


After high school Roselyn traveled to Yakima, WA to spend time with her sister and her sister's family. Roselyn would later return to Montana and eventually settle in Havre, MT. Roselyn married Lawrence Azure in the early 1970's and two children were born from this union. She also has four stepchildren. Roselyn worked in the Havre Public School system where she had many different responsibilities throughout the years. Rose was very influential in developing and supporting programs that aided in the education of Native American students.


Roselyn was a very educated lady. She earned numerous degrees, Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts Community Service, Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Native American Studies from MSU-Northern in Havre, MT in 1994. She also earned an Associate of Arts Chemical Dependency from Stone Child College, Rocky Boy, MT in 1996. Finally, she earned a Masters of Education Counseling from MSU-Northern in Havre, MT in 1998. Roselyn achieved all this while still working for the Havre Public Schools. After finishing her education, she took a job as a school counselor at KW Bergan Elementary School in Browning, MT and remained there up until her retirement.


Roselyn enjoyed her retirement spending time with her family. She loved taking country drives, exploring new places, searching for new fishing spots or picnic areas. She was fond of animals and nature. During the holidays she enjoyed driving around looking at lights. Roselyn was a sports fan, especially watching her grandkids play. One of her favorite past times was riding around the golf course with her family. At home she kept herself busy doing crafts and reading with her grandchildren.


Roselyn is survived by her sons, Larry (Jennifer) Azure and Cory (Missy) Azure; brother, Francis (Shirley) Wall; sisters, Angeline Wall and Bernadette Wall; three stepchildren, Yuula Faucher, Troy Azure and Travis Azure; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Lawrence Azure; stepson, Sheldon Wilson, brothers, Gilbert Wall and Thomas Wall and sisters, Irene Old Chief and Theresa Still Smoking.


A Memorial Service will be held at Four Winds Assembly of God Church in Browning, MT at 11am on Saturday, May 27th.
