Randall "Randy" Wayne Mccray

March 24, 1952 — August 23, 2018

Randy McCray of West Yellowstone, MT, passed away from a heart attack on August 23, 2018 at Highgate Senior Living in Bozeman, MT. Randy was born in Ogden, UT to Howard and Lois McCray, and the family moved to West Yellowstone when he was nine. He graduated from West Yellowstone High School in 1970, and on June 21, 1972, married Nikki Wilding. During their 17-year marriage, Randy and Nikki were the proud parents of a son, Jason and a daughter, Brandi.

Randy served in the Artillery division of the Army from 1972 to 1975. After earning an honorable discharge, he obtained an associate degree in Forestry and worked for the Gallatin National Forest during the summers on trail crews and fires; in the winters, he drove snow coaches and busses for TW Services, guiding tours into Yellowstone National Park. In 1988, he joined the McCray family business, where, with his second wife, Kim Hatfield, he rented snowmobiles and managed a small motel until a brain aneurysm in 1998 left him disabled. His family always came first, followed by riding his Harley and rooting for the Seattle Seahawks. He loved the greater Yellowstone area and always considered it his home.

He is survived by his daughter Brandi, his mother Lois, his siblings Larry (Sheila), David (Jamie) and Leslie (Brad), and his grandchildren Alan, Shelene, Duncan and Brooklyn. He is preceded in death by his son Jason, his father Howard and his grandson Skyler.

Please join the family for a graveside service Thursday, August 30th, 11:30 AM at Fir Ridge Cemetery with a reception immediately following at the West Yellowstone LDS Church. No flowers please.
