Mildred 'Milly' Hagan

July 17, 1924 — August 30, 2012

Milly Hagan, wife of Rich Hagan and mother of Cindy Owings and Richard Hagan, former Bozeman residents, died peacefully surrounded by family. She had lived at Highgate Senior Living Memory Cottage where she was compassionately cared for during the past year, as Alzheimer’s disease gradually robbed her of life’s spirit. A Missouri native, Milly’s heart and soul resided in Colorado and the West where her adult life was spent living in remote Bureau of Reclamation dam sites in six states. Along with their son and long family friend Taylor Hansen, Milly and Rich built their home in Loveland, Colorado where they retired. Always ready for the next road trip, camping outings in the early years, walks, and gatherings of family and friends, Milly invited all who cared to share in her love of the Colorado mountains, history, and places. An avid reader and observer of people’s lives, politics, and local issues contributed to Milly’s love of conversation which remained even as a glimmer to the end of her life. A gentle soul, Milly will be missed by her husband; her sister, Carol Harfert; two children and their spouses, Noelle Hagan and Graham McIlwaine; four grand children, Maya Owings, Nicholas Hagan, Celia Hagan, and Ian Hagan; and one great grandson, Otis Ranahan; as well as extended family and friends, near and far. There will be a graveside service at 11:00am on Monday, September 24, 2012 in the Loveland Burial Park, 1702 N. Cleveland, Loveland, CO, followed by a reception at the Loveland Sculpture Park. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Milly’s name to the Loveland Habitat for Humanity, 1154 SE 2nd St., Loveland, CO 80537.
