Melanie Dilts

January 8, 1951 — November 8, 2009

On Sunday November 8th, 2009, Melanie Dilts, our beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away after a long and valiant struggle with cancer. Melanie was born January 8th 1951 in Harvey, Illinois to Orville Lawrence Dilts and Josephine (Rodenburg) Dilts. She was raised and educated in the Chicago area and attended college at MSU in Bozeman where she studied Zoology and Biochemistry, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. Melanie was familiar to many in our community from her many years working at Gibson#8217;s Department store, UBC, Bozeman Brick and at the airport as an officer with TSA. She will be remembered for her quick wit, ready laughter and contagious smile. She enjoyed many pastimes and hobbies including; sewing, cooking, singing, and performing. Melanie was an accomplished seamstress, often sewing elaborate performance costumes for herself and friends as part of her involvement with the Sweet Adelines singing group in which she participated for many years. Often she would provide meals, treats and desserts for friends and co-workers at her places of employment, even going so far as to provide a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for her fellow officers at the airport when they had to work through the holiday. Her culinary talents however, were unequalled when it came to pies and cheesecakes. Adding to the warmth and love of Melanie#8217;s life were her beloved #8220;kitties#8221; and #8220;puppy#8221; of which she spoke often and most lovingly. Melanie is preceded in death by her father Orville and is survived by her children; J. Mundt of Mattison, Illinois, Elizabeth Mundt of Seattle, and Kevin Mundt of Bozeman. She is also survived by; her mother Josephine of Chicago, a sister Ruth Collins of Pennsylvania, a brother David Dilts of Michigan and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. A celebration of Melanie#8217;s life will be held at two o#8217;clock, Friday November 13th 2009 at the Dahl Funeral Chapel on Highland Blvd. in Bozeman. We will miss Melanie but our lives were blessed by having known her.
