Broadwater County Deputy Sheriff Mason Palmer Bethea Moore, 42, of Three Forks, Montana, was killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born May 8, 1975 in Manning, South Carolina to MaryAnne (Grayson) and Nebraska E. Moore II. He attended Clarendon Hall Elementary and graduated from Manning High School. He then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University.



Mason married the love of his life, Jodi Woods, on May 22, 1999 in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina. Mason’s love for family and friends and his desire to make a difference in his community drove him to dedicate his life to public service.



Deputy Moore served as a Law Enforcement Officer for the University of South Carolina Police Department, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Clarendon County Sheriff’s Department, Motor Carrier Services of Bozeman, MT, and the Broadwater County Sheriff’s Office. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for Central Valley Fire Department in Belgrade, MT and the Three Forks Fire Department in Three Forks, MT.



Mason grew up attending Summerton Baptist Church in Summerton, S. C. He had a deep and personal relationship with God. Mason and his family are an active part of the Bridge Church family in Belgrade.



Mason loved hunting and hiking. He was a family man; his family was most important to him. Mason’s loving bear hugs were legendary.



Mason was preceded in death by grandparents Archie Bethea Grayson, James Grayson Jr, Kathleen Moore and Ned Moore, and his uncle, ATF Special Agent James Grayson III and great aunt Judge Thomasine Grayson Mason



Survivors include his wife Jodi, twin sons Chase Mason Moore, Cole Woods Moore and daughter Branna Kaycee Carey Moore, all of Three Forks, MT; his parents MaryAnne and Nebraska Moore of Summerton, SC, his brother and sister-in-law Nebraska E. and Stephanie Moore of Summerville, S.C.





Mason loved and adored his family and friends and we loved and adored him. We will carry him and his love in our hearts for the rest of our lives.



A closed casket visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm, Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Bridge Church, 608 N. Jackrabbit Ln.



The funeral for Deputy Moore will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 23. The service will be held at the Bridge Church, 608 Jackrabbit Lane, Belgrade and will be live-streamed at the Belgrade Events Center, 220 Spooner Road, Belgrade, and the Three Forks High School Gym, 210 East Neal Street, Three Forks. Parking for the Events Center will open at 9:30; take Main to Grogan and approach the parking lot from that side to avoid conflict with the procession. Deputy Moore will lie in state at the Three Forks Gym during the reception following the procession, approximately 3:00 until 5:00.



Burial will take place in Summerton, SC.



Memorials may be made in his name to: Opportunity Bank in Townsend, MT, Stockman Bank in Helena, MT, The Bridge Church in Belgrade, MT and the Montana Sheriff/Peace Officers Association.
