Marcia J. Johnson

November 3, 1936 — July 22, 2016

Marcia Jean Johnson, 79, of Bozeman, Montana went to be with her Lord on July 22, 2016 at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital from complications resulting from cancer. She was born on November 3, 1936 in Duluth, Minnesota to John and Margaret Davidson. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in English and taught for two years in Detroit and East Peoria, Illinois. She married Lowell Johnson on December 27, 1959 and for the next fifty-five years they dedicated themselves to each other and to raising their three boys, four grandchildren and numerous foster children. Marcia was always on the lookout for ways to help those who were in need and was a tireless caretaker and confidant when Lowell was diagnosed with MS. She loved the following: every aspect of God’s glorious creation, treasure hunts with her grandchildren, entertaining travelling friends at the house, her precious neighbors in Bozeman, every library and book she came across (her mother was a full-time librarian), the people and ministry of Pilgrim Congregational Church, and any activity that someone in the family pursued from motocross to chamber music concerts to soccer and volleyball and hiking in the mountains. Marcia is survived by three children: Brian Johnson of Visalia, California, Craig Johnson of Centennial Wyoming and Keith Johnson of Bozeman, Montana. She is also survived by four grandchildren. In lieu of a service the family will be having a private gathering. If you desire to give a donation in memory of Marcia, the family asks that you give to the Bozeman Public Library located at 626 E. Main St. Bozeman, MT 59715 or Pilgrim Congregational United Church at 2118 S. 3rd Ave Bozeman, MT 59715.
