Mamie Wallenberg

Mamie Wallenberg, 97, of Bozeman, Montana passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009. Mamie was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 16, 1912 to Michael and Mary Lazuka. She married George Wallenberg on June 3, 1939 in Chicago. In 1952 Mamie and George moved to the East Shore of Flathead Lake. In 1976, they moved to Polson. She moved to Bozeman in 1985 to be near family. She worked as a candy maker at the Stop and Shop for ten years and as a homemaker on the east Shore of Flathead Lake for 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and loved volunteering to help others. In 1981 she was honored as volunteer of the year at St. Josephs Convalescent Home in Polson, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, three sisters, Alvina Lazuka, Victoria Klem, and Helen Spodark, and three brothers, Walter, John, and Michael Lazuka. Survivors include her daughters,Dorothy (William) Hathaway of Bozeman, Betty (John ) Scheetz of Bridger, MT; four grandchildren Richard Hathaway of Bozeman, MT, Jeri Hathaway (Dan) Arndt of Marysville, WA, Gerry (Stacy) Scheetz, of Helena, MT, Rebecca Scheetz Laramie of Denver, CO, and two great-grandchildren Kristine and Samantha Arndt of Marysville, WA. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation at the church starting at 9:15 am until 9:50 am. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made in her name to a charity of ones choice.
