Mable Nadine Welz

Mable Nadine Brookshier Welz passed away June 25, 2012. She was born December 13, 1929 in township of Gallatin, city of Birmingham, Missouri to Bliss and Opal (Rendler) Brookshier. Mable was married to Elwin (Allie) Charles Welz, who passed away January 21, 1983 in Gallatin Valley, Montana. Mable attended school in Kansas City, Kansas, Wyandote County before moving to Belgrade, Montana where she completed high school. While at Belgrade High School she was a member of the chorus, Pep club, FHA, school newspaper, and a cheerleader. She also played basketball and baseball. Mable worked clerical jobs in Kansas City, MO, Cody, WY, and Bozeman, MT. Her last position was at the Belgrade Schools as School Lunch Supervisor. She retired in 1990. Mable was an election judge for the city of Belgrade, Gallatin County, and the Belgrade School District. She was a volunteer at the Belgrade Library and also volunteered with First Grade Teacher Deb Lundquist. She was a Belgrade City Council member. She was also a member of the Belgrade Community Church for over 50 years where she was in the choir and served in various offices including Deacon and Church Council. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Mable was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by: daughters Marcella Jo (Gary) Glenn, Juleen Rae Mischo, and Sharla Sue Schultz; sister Lee (Carl) Spring; brother Joe (Margaret) Brookshier; grandchildren William Charles Glenn, Cassie Nadine Schultz Smieja, and Derek Louis Schultz; great-grandchildren Kiley Marie Smieja, Alexa Louise, Robert James, and William Joe Glenn; and numerous nieces and nephews. At the time of her death she was a resident at Highgate Senior Living. Memorials may be made in her name to either the Belgrade Community Church, 119 S. Broadway, Belgrade, MT 59714-3910 or the Belgrade Community Library, P.O. Box 929, Belgrade, MT 59714. Mable has donated her body to the WWAMI Medical Program at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Highgate Senior Living.
