Lucille Leigh Shireman

Lucille Leigh Shireman, 89, of Bozeman, Montana passed away September 8, 2012. She was born June 30, 1923 in Wolf Point, Montana to Hugo and Ethel (Campfield) Johnson. Lucille was raised on a farm in Wolf Point and graduated from high school when she was 16. After graduation she took a train east across the country to find work. She found a job as a secretary at Boyce Builders Supply in Pontiac, Michigan. While working there she met John Shireman. The couple later married September 11, 1946 in Orchard Lake, Michigan and lived in Pontiac and Kalamazoo, Michigan. Upon retirement in 1988, Lucille and John moved to Bozeman because she “never got Montana out of her blood”. She loved the scenery, climate and government of Montana. She enjoyed traveling all over the world including Europe, Alaska, and the Panama Canal. She also enjoyed reading, music (she played the piano and piccolo) and crossword puzzles. She also volunteered at the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce and the Bozeman Law and Justice Center. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Walter Johnson. She is survived by: her husband, John William Shireman of Bozeman; her son Tim (Rene) Shireman of Lansing, Michigan; her daughters Laura (Brian) Johnson of Milford, New Hampshire and Janet (Jeff) Herrington of Kalamazoo, Michigan; her sister Helen Deatherage of LaGrande, Oregon; seven grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made in Lucille’s name to the Bozeman Senior Center, 807 N. Tracy Ave., Bozeman, MT 59715.
