Louse Hosking

September 20, 1925 — March 8, 2008

Louise Margaret Hosking of Bozeman passed away March 8, 2008. She was born September 20, 1925 to Michael and Reine Marie (DuFlot) Pappas, the third of six children. As a high school student, Louise studied fashion design in New York City and later worked at Saks Fifth Avenue, B. Altman Co. and The Sample Case in Irvington, NY. In 1943, while on furlough from military training, Louise#8217;s older brother, Michael, brought home Elmer Hosking to meet his family. After a romantic wartime courtship, Elmer and Louise were married on September 2, 1944 in Washingtonville, NY. During their nearly 65 years of marriage, the couple created a loving home in a variety of locations, from Texas to Cape Cod and many places in between and beyond. Louise#8217;s warmth with people and skill with crafts made her a much-loved volunteer at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn and at the Gallatin Rest Home in Bozeman. Most recently she knitted hats for newborns at Bozeman Deaconess. Always attentive to her husband and children, Louise used the relative freedom of her senior years to involve herself in community issues and to bring smiles to her neighbors at Aspen Point. She blossomed particularly at Halloween, when she might roam the point as a clown, dinosaur or floozy. Louise is survived by her husband, Elmer; two children: Eileen Hosking of Nashville, TN; and John Hosking of Bozeman; one sister: Helen Emerson of Havelock, NC; two brothers: William Pappas of Woodcliff Lakes, NJ; James Pappas of Joplin, MO; and one grandson; Jeremy Hosking of Nashville, TN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday March 18th, 2008 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made in her name to Pilgrim Congregational Church, 2118 S 3rd Ave. Bozeman, MT 59715
