Lois Porter Erickson

November 1, 1937 — May 4, 2018

Lois Porter Erickson passed away in her home on May 4, 2018. She was born November 1, 1937 in Billings, Montana to Hugh K. and Edith (Coakley) Porter. She grew up in Laurel, Montana and graduated from Laurel High School in May, 1955.

Lois met Harry, her best friend and love of her life, while working at her parents’ El Campo Motel in Billings. Lois and Harry were married on July 2, 1955. To this union came four boys; Mark, Monty, Matt & Miles. She kept right up with Harry and four busy boys, including riding motorcycles, camping and rafting.

As the mother of four boys and partner to Harry, she packed up the household several times to follow Harry’s work as a pipefitter and as an educator. She helped move the family from Laurel; Corvallis, Oregon; Deer Lodge; Baker and eventually to Belgrade.

There was no rest or retirement for Lois as a mother’s work never ended. Her family and God were the center of Lois’s world. In her words “she loved God and church and family”.

Her passions included crocheting quilts, gardening, reading, participating as a master trivial pursuit consultant and crossword puzzle extraordinaire, playing bridge with friends and keeping up with activities of her children and grandchildren. She was valued and will be heartfully missed as an expert adviser and confidant.

Lois is survived by sons Mark (Kenlynn) Erickson of Belgrade, Monty (Irene) Erickson of Sarpy, Montana, Matt (Kara) Erickson of Miles City and Miles (Donna) Erickson of Belgrade; grandchildren Danielle, Mark, Cody, Miles Trey, Masen Thayne, Emily, Parker, Robert, Zak, Amanda and Aarika; great-grandchildren Kaydence, Hudson, Jordan, Oakley, Brayden, Easton, Jaxson and Beckham; and brother Jim Porter of N. Las Vegas.

Lois was proceeded in death by father Hubert Porter, mother Edith Porter, husband Harry Erickson, sister-in-law Claudette Porter, granddaughter Katlynn Erickson and great-grandson Cashton Erickson.
