Larry William Rak

May 1, 1990 — June 14, 2016

Larry William Rak, 26 of Bozeman, died on June 14, 2016. Larry ended his life in the Bridger Mountains after a long struggle with addiction. He was beautiful, funny, sarcastic, and of course loved beyond belief. His quick wit and hilarious worldly observations kept his friends and family laughing. His friends found him endearing, especially Hannah, who affectionately referred to him as “Larry Bug”.

Larry was born in Livonia, MI on May 1, 1990. Larry spent the majority of his life in Bozeman, where he attended school, from kindergarten on. Larry and his mother Barda have an unbreakable bond and love for one another. Larry also loved his father dearly, and worked with him in the plumbing industry for a time before his life took a turn and his addictions overcame him.

Larry is survived by his mother Barda Newman and her husband Lee Wooldridge of Bozeman; father Larry P. Rak of Bozeman; brother Kyle William Rak of Dallas, TX; sister Jami Rak of Billings; Jami’s children Tayvin and Keaton. His mother’s extended family include aunts Paula (Rick) Nance, April Newman, and Randa (Marc) Murray; as well as numerous cousin. His father’s family includes aunts Linda Rak and Sandy Rak; uncles David Rak and Gary Rak; and numerous Rak cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Randall and Anita Newman and Art and Ruth Rak; great grandmother Cotella Clark; as well as his beloved cousin Lindsey Rak and his cousin Randy Willis.

The family is requesting continued prayers. Mental illness and drug addiction is a real disease. Larry did not choose this lifestyle for himself. His disease overcame him until he couldn’t fight it anymore. His mother’s family would like to encourage you to view addiction as a disease, not a choice.
