Kevin W. Woodland

July 25, 1964 — August 29, 2009

Kevin W. Woodland, 45, passed away August 29, 2009 at his home in Bozeman, MT as a result of ALS (Lou Gehrig#8217;s disease). Kevin grew up in Missouri and Arizona, graduating in 1982 from Mexico High School in Mexico, MO. He married Angela Ballenger in 1991, and they have two children together, Jakob, 15, and Ella, 3. Kevin worked as a pipefitter in Columbia, MO as a member of Local 317 and then Local 562. He retired in 2001 to become a stay-at-home dad, part-time artist, and adventurer. The family lived in Columbia, MO until 2001, Lincoln, NE from 2001 to 2004, Baton Rouge, LA from 2004 to 2008, and currently resides in Bozeman, MT. Kevin was an avid adventurer. He explored the Canyonlands of Utah, kayaked the Florida Everglades and the Boundary Waters of Minnesota, hiked and climbed on the Appalachian Trail and Mt. Katadin, backpacked in Yellowstone, telemark skied hut-to-hut in the Colorado Rockies, mountain-biked, snowboarded, road-biked, and completed several triathlons and marathons. Kevin is survived by his wife and children, Angela, Jakob and Ella of Bozeman, MT; father Wayne Woodland and his wife Jan of Tucson, AZ; mother Candace Bryant and her husband Jerry of Columbia, MO; and many other relatives and close friends. Kevin#8217;s family will hold a gathering in his honor on Tuesday, September 15 from 6:00 pm #8211; 9:00 pm in the Stotler Lounge of the Memorial Union on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, MO. All friends and family are welcome and encouraged to attend.
