Kenneth Leo Colman

Kenneth Leo Colman, 81, died following a long illness on August 5th, 2010 surrounded by family. Ken was born December 4th, 1928 to Clarence and Helen Colman in Sheridan, Wyoming. He graduated from the University of Wyoming and received his master's degree from Montana State University. He married Jane Akins and together they had five children. He was an associate professor of Animal Science in the Wool laboratory at MSU for 35 years. He was a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus where he served State Secretary for 15 years as well as State Deputy. He very active with the Boy Scouts of America, loved to bowl, golf, play games, do crossword puzzles, camp and fish. After the death of his beloved wife, Jane, he expanded his family with his marriage to Marion Kirwan who brought with her seven more children. Later in life, his love of family fostered an interest in genealogy which led to meeting even more family and visiting them all across the country brought great joy. Dad loved to visit with friends and family. We will never forget the many happy times we had together when the laughter was so infectious, tears were streaming, bellies were hurting and rolling on the ground was necessary. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lois, Ruth, Marie, and brothers Fred and Wilbur. He is survived by his loving wife, Marion, children, Betty (Larry) Mullette, Bob(Eileen) Colman, Carol Buchel, Ken (Rose) Colman Jr., Annette(Nilo) Cabrera, Karen (Burt) Newmark, Kathy(Rich) Aldrich, Mike (Sue) Kirwan, Pat Kirwan, Pam (Roy) Warner, Tom (Karen) Kirwan, Ann(Jim) Peters, his sisters Margaret Colman and Evelyn Straight, brother Earl (Dorothy) Colman, along numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We miss you Dad but are happy you are finally at peace. The family would like to thank the staff at Aspen Meadows for their loving care during Dad's stay. A Rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus at 5:30 pm Wednesday, August 11, at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Bozeman followed by a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm. The funeral mass will be at Holy Rosary Church in Bozeman on Thursday, August 12th at 10:00 a.m. followed by internment at Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Knights of Columbus or the Boy Scouts of America. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlcares.com
