Kandy Dawn Mcclintock

July 23, 1955 — May 4, 2012

Kandy Dawn McClintock, 56, of Bozeman, passed away May 4, 2012 at her home from complications of diabetes. She was born July 23, 1955 in Seattle, WA as an identical twin to Donald and Kathleen Sharon (Burns) McClintock. At 6 years old, Kandy was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes, which she struggled with for 50 years until her death. She was raised in the town of SeaTac, WA and graduated from Tyee High School. Kandy later attended Highline Community College where she took higher education courses. She was a waitress at Denny’s for many years in Seattle and that was where she met her husband Mark Minnich. They made their home in Auburn, Puyallup, Issaquah and Burien, WA. Together, they raised two daughters, Summer Dawn and Hailey Danielle’. Kandy and Mark moved to Bozeman in 2002. She worked at Smiths, Wal-Mart and also established Kan-Mar Setters, which can now be viewed on her web page. She was a dog breeder of Dobermans, Great Danes and currently Irish Setters. She enjoyed arts, crafts, sculpting and floral arranging, but loved spending most of her time with her family, dogs and fishing. Kandy was a very intelligent, but very shy girl. To those who knew and loved her she will be remembered as a very caring individual. One of her favorite expressions was to call her husband “Papa”, and she used it often when speaking to or asking for him. Some of Kandy’s greatest past times included training and playing with her beloved Irish Setters, who were going to take part in this summer’s National Dog Shows, fishing and Nature Drives in and around Bozeman, MT. Kandy was preceded in death by her father Donald McClintock in 2000. Survivors include: her husband Mark Minnich of Bozeman, MT; her mother Sharon McClintock of Sea-Tac, WA; her daughters Summer Dawn (Mike) Bosteader of Auburn, WA and Hailey (Dustin) Dale of Bozeman, MT; grandchildren Andrea, Hannah, Nathan and Victoria Lynn; her brother Tony (Maryann) McClintock of Sumner, WA; her identical twin sister Penne (John) Jordan of Franktown, CO; and nephews John and Josh. Every day from now on we will hear a Memorial Song sung to her by the squirrels, rabbits, deer, birds, and every other wild animal, plus her beloved dogs and cat. She is gone but will be missed and loved forever. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 10am to 5pm at Dahl Funeral Chapel. The family will be present to greet friends between 4pm and 5pm. Burial will take place at Ft. Harrison National Cemetery in Helena at 11:00 am on Friday, May 11, 2012. Memorials may be made in her name to the family or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
