John Martin Zirbel

January 19, 1961 — May 30, 2013

John Martin “John Z” Zirbel was born at Vandenberg A.F.B. in Lompoc, California on January 19, 1961. John's father, Clyde C. Zirbel, MD, assisted with his delivery, being present for John's first breath and was with John as he took his last breath. John passed away on May 30, 2013 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, Montana following emergency brain surgery to treat an intracranial hemorrhage due to a bicycle accident on Haggerty Ln. in Bozeman. If you knew John Z, you would be aware of his sense of humor which he had at an early age. Once he was staying with his grandparents and was given the rule 'No running in the house”. His papa caught him running in the kitchen, John replied 'It's not me papa, it's Jesus, he is running with me!” His Papa had no comment. John's best friend and confidant was his younger brother, Patrick. They enjoyed walking their golden retrievers, Kelly and Gus, at the local dog park and at Pete's Hill. John is survived by: his parents Margaret and Clyde Zirbel of Bozeman; sister Gretchen (Don) Trowbridge of Loomis, CA; brother Clyde III (Trace) of Sacramento, CA; cousin Jolie (Joel) Church and her children Jacklyn and Justin Church, all of Bozeman; aunt Marie Schmidt and her children and cousins Johanna, Kathy, Karen, and Janet; aunt Bonnie and uncle Jim Mara and their children and cousins Megan, Kay, and Petra; and cousin Eric (Cheryl) Zirbel and their children Zachary and Bella. He was uncle to: Gavin and Miranda Zirbel of Placerville, CA; Brian (Jennifer) Zirbel of Bozeman; Melissa (Ryan) James and their daughter Lucy James, of Roseville, CA; Courtney Trowbridge of Bakersfield, CA; and Heather Torres and her son Leish Maestas; best friend Paul Wilson and his family; his son Arron Seward; and two grand-babies. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Unity Church, 1919 Fairway Dr., Bozeman, MT 59715. My Sweet Lord Oh, My Lord My Sweet Lord My Sweet Lord I really wanna know you I’d like to go with you I wanna show you Lord That it won’t take long, my Lord
