Jerome Sundby

October 7, 1931 — December 21, 2011

Jerome Allan Sundby, 80, of Four Corners, passed away December 21, 2011. He was born October 7, 1931 in Rawson, ND to Albert and Ingeborg ( Svendheim ) Sundby. He was raised in Rawson and spent winters in California. He graduated from Alexander High School. Jerome served our country during the Korean War in the Army. Following his honorable discharge he attended North Dakota State College in Fargo, ND. Jerome left college to run the family farm in Rawson when his father Albert died. Jerome had a great work ethic; farming in the summer and driving truck in the winter. Jerome met the love of his life, Donna Christensen (a sweet widow with 5 children), at the American Legion in Watford City, ND. The two were married on October 10, 1975 in Watford City, ND. They made their home in Watford City, then Boulder, CO before settling in Bozeman (the Four Corners area) in 1979. A celebration of Jerome's life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Jerome was a member of the Weapons Collectors Society of Montana. He enjoyed guns, fishing, garage sales, flea markets, poetry and reading. He was a musician; he played the accordion and harmonica and had a beautiful voice. Jerome#8217;s true gift was the gift of gab, and those he met as strangers departed as friends. Donna always brought crossword puzzles with her when traveling with Jerome, because if they stopped for gas and he went inside to pay, he would get sidetracked making new friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mildred, brother Carl, and an infant brother. Survivors include his wife Donna of Bozeman, children: Ellen Endres; Tom and Mary Christensen; KC and Mark Davis; Jim and Gay Christensen; and Bob and Ruth Sundby; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a niece and nephew.
Jerome donated his body to the WAMI medical program through Montana State University. A memorial service will be announced in the spring.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Shriner#8217;s Children#8217;s Hospitals or St. Jude#8217;s Children#8217;s Hospital.
