Jean Pittman

Jean G. Pittman, 84, of Bozeman, passed away January 12, 2009 at Mountain View Care Center. She was born March 5, 1924 in Lincoln, NE, a daughter to H.M. and Elen M. (Schwarz) Traver. She was raised by her grandmother. As a young woman she worked for the carnival, then moved to Texas and was working at Navy PX near Brownwood, Texas where she met Carter Pittman. The couple married and had a daughter Cartie in 1944 and son Reginald Lee in 1948. The couple later divorced. She later married Eddie Reyes, and during their marriage lived for 6 years in Europe, they later divorced. Jean moved back to Texas and worked as a waitress at the Sand Dollar in Corpus Christie, and then in 1984 she moved to Montana to be near her daughter Cartie. While in Bozeman she worked for the Salvation Army, the Red Cross and Green Thumb (an organization that checked on the elderly). She knew her own mind, had a heart as big as Texas, and an attitude to match. In the early years Jean loved to dance. She liked the music of the big bands, 50#8217;s music and especially loved Elvis. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys#8217; football fan and she was an amazing cook. Her family loved her chicken enchiladas, tamales, pies and pumpkins rolls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Tony Brown and two brothers. Survivors include daughter Cartie Brown of Gallatin Gateway; son Reginald (Helen) Pittman of Texas; grandchildren , Tony (Yvette) Brown, Allen (Betty) Brown, Shelly Brown and Jody (Rick) Hickman , Rex Pittman, Jay Pittman and Michelle; great grandchildren Jenny, Albert, Mary, Christopher (Elizabeth), Amanda #8220;Mandy#8221; (Joey); and great great grandchildren Timothy, Kayla, Hannah, Tristan and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jean#8217;s life will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, January 23, 2009 at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Bozeman, Montana.
