Irene Korbin

July 17, 1916 — December 9, 2008

Irene Korbin, 92, of San Clemente, CA passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 while in Bozeman, MT. She was born on July 17, 1916 in Newark, NJ to Gregory and Antonina (Thedorchak) Peretz. She later married Ernest Korbin and together they raised four children, Gregg, Jim, Christine, and Bill. Irene was a longtime member of St. George#8217;s Episcopal Church in La Canada-Flintridge, CA. She devoted many hours to the thrift shop sponsored by the church, did Altar Guild, as well as various other community programs in the city of La Canada-Flintridge. She later continued her voluntary work at St. Clement#8217;s Episcopal Church in San Clemente, where she and Ernest retired. As well as being a homemaker, she also worked as a secretary for ATT for many years. Irene#8217;s greatest joy was her family, especially her children and grandchildren, for which her love and generosity were unbounded. She knew how to throw a party. Family and friends always looked forward to spending Christmas Eve and Fourth of July at Irene#8217;s home. Her hobbies included antique furniture, handcrafts for the holidays, volunteering, and if you were a guest at her home, you were one of the family. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest in 1992 and by three sisters, Ann, Mary Jo, and Sandra, as well as one brother, Gregg. Survivors include her children Gregg (Anne) Korbin, Jim McGuire, Christine (Joey) Lee and Bill (Maura) Korbin; and grandchildren Heather Lee, Alexandra Korbin and Karena Korbin. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am Thursday, December 18, 2008 at St. Clements Episcopal Church in San Clemente, CA. Interment will follow at Hollywood Hills Cemetery at Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA.
