Homer 'Jim' Chollar

Homer B. #8220;Jim#8221; Chollar passed away Feb 13, 2010. Jim was born Dec 16, 1916, in Three Forks, MT to Homer and Emma (Rheinhardt) Chollar. He attended school in Three Forks and joined the US Navy in 1934 and served on the USS Detroit until his discharge in 1938. After working in various occupations Jim went back to sea in the US Merchant Marine and he retired thirty-five years later as a Chief Engineer with Standard Oil. One of his proudest accomplishments was transporting of ammunition to the US Marines on the Pacific Islands during World War II. On Feb 24, 1944, Jim married Anne P. Pieschuk in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. The couple had one son, Donald James. After retirement Jim enjoyed traveling with his wife Anne, horseback riding and hiking. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anne in 1991, and sister Helen Jenkins of Washington. He is survived by his son, Donald (Donna) Chollar of Snohomish, WA, sister Bertha McPhail of Meridian, ID, and sister Idamae Jeglum of Bozeman and many nieces and nephews. Jim will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Family and friends may make a memorial donation to the VFW or Charity of choice.
