Henry Edward Marcelin

December 27, 1944 — May 24, 2018

Henry Edward Marcelin, age 73 passed away at his home in McAllister, MT, surrounded by his family on Thursday May 24th 2018. He lived his nine lives to the fullest surviving an airplane crash, rolling a tractor, many crashes on snowmobiles and motorcycles, broken bones from karate, but he couldn’t win his battle with cancer. Henry was born December 27th, 1944 in Langdon, ND to Oscar and Doris Marcelin. He attended School in Walhalla, ND and married his high school sweetheart, Joan Dalzell, on July 1st, 1965.

After graduating high school in 1962, Henry worked in the grain elevator in Walhalla, Grand Forks, Manville, and Clyde ND until 1972 when they bought Hanks Corner from his parents (a bar, gas station- convenience store) in Concrete, ND. Henry and Joan sold Hanks Corner to his sister in 1977 and moved to Cavalier, ND where they purchased Marcelin’s Jewelry and Trophy Shop. In 1979, they moved to Langdon, ND where he became a partner in Langdon Motors car dealership. Henry and Joan made the transition from ND to Bozeman, MT in 1983 where Henry worked in sales at Don Norm Chevrolet, Connell Chevrolet, and Ressler Motors. In 2004, he went to work at Big Sky RV and shortly after, Henry and Joan became “snow birds” splitting their time between MT and Mesa, AZ. He retired in September of 2016.

Henry raced motocross, was a black belt in Karate, private airplane pilot, loved to watch old school westerns (we may never watch another one), play tennis, hunting and spending time in the mountains, and his newest passion was hunting rattle snakes, but above all he loved his family. Henry was known for entertaining and being a gracious host. He loved to gather with his family and friends and would invite the entire neighborhood while leaving his patient wife to cook for everyone. He was a loving, caring father figure, true friend and mentored and helped anyone in need. He was the guy that would do anything for anyone.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Oscar and Doris Marcelin. Henry is survived by his wife, Joan, his three children Todd Marcelin (Voss Sartain), Kristy Kolstad (Tim Kolstad), and Jody Ekstrom (Joe Ekstrom) all from Bozeman, MT. His Grandchildren Jackie Marcelin, Kaitlin Fowler (Drew Fowler), Nathan Marcelin, Jordan Collins, Austin Collins, Jake Ekstrom and Alex Ekstrom and two great-grandchildren, Rhylan and Maleck. His brothers and sisters Richard Marcelin, Lillian Livingood (Jim Livingood), Faye Hoff (Dean Hoff), Sandra Marcelin, Mark Marcelin, and Wayne Marcelin.
