Helen L. Darwin

March 17, 1926 — July 17, 2014

Helen Darwin of Naples, Florida, died Thursday, July 17th, 2014 in Bozeman, Mt at the age of 88. She was born and grew up in Cable, Wisconsin. After obtaining her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater she settled with her husband, Bob Darwin, in Midland, Michigan to raise her family and to pursue her teaching career in the public schools. During the next 10 years 3 children were born to them, and she continued working in various positions in the public schools. She returned to get her master’s degree in Business Education from Central Michigan University and resumed her teaching career at Freeland High School in Freeland Michigan for 20 more years. After retirement, she and Bob settled in Naples Florida, faithfully making excursions in their motor home to visit their grandchildren, and enjoying their new community in Naples. Helen was a servant. When she wasn’t walking her daily 3 miles, or in the pool exercising, she could be found cooking for everyone, writing birthday letters to all her friends and family, or playing cards with them. Helen and Bob were members of the Lely Presbyterian Church in Naples, Florida. She will be forever cherished by her high school sweetheart and husband, of 66 years, Robert Darwin; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Dan McNeil of Holland Michigan, son Bruce Darwin of Huffman, Texas; and daughter, Carol Dailey of Bozeman, Montana, as well as several nieces and nephews. She leaves a legacy in her eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. One sister, Alice Schneider and parents, Dr. Wilmer and Edna Neer, preceded her in death.
