Grace 'Gracie' Louise Cornes Denk

February 25, 1992 — January 28, 2014

Grace “Gracie” Louise Cornes Denk was born in Evanston, Ill. on Feb. 25, 1992. She was taken from us on Jan. 28, 2014, in Wilmington, N.C., just a few weeks short of her 22nd birthday. Gracie was the beloved daughter of Bonnie Cornes Anderson of Livingston, Mont. and David Cornes of Chicago, Ill. She was the youngest of four and is dearly missed by her siblings, David Cornes, Jr. of Chicago, Ill., Annie and John Babbitt of Belgrade, Mont., and Molly Cornes of Bozeman, as well as her many cousins, aunts and uncles and her three kitties, Marcy, Sylvia and Rat. Gracie was an amazing young lady who experienced more of life by her 21st birthday than most. She had the most beautiful, contagious smile. She was caring, thoughtful, lovable, intelligent, determined, witty, fierce, and snugly. She was a focused and determined young lady who moved forward with intention; she wanted everything just right. Gracie moved to Bozeman with her family in 2001. She received her GED at 15, attended MSU at 16 and at 18, proudly answered the call of the United States Marine Corps. She served in Afghanistan on a combat deployment with HMLA 269. From an early age she knew she wanted to serve her country. To say Gracie was a devoted advocate for animals and their well-being would be putting it mildly. She volunteered and worked tirelessly to find homes for animals that she came across. From the time she was a little girl she was drawn to all animals – stray dogs, cats, horses, birds and even rodents. She was kind hearted through and through. We are heartbroken and mourn her loss every second of every day, but we know that Gracie is resting peacefully in the presence of Jesus. She is surrounded by friends, family and animals she loved during her short life who have gone before her, as well as those loved ones she is meeting for the first time in heaven. Rest peacefully dear one, we will be together again someday. Love you forever. xoxoxoxo 2 Corinthians 5:8 To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We will celebrate Gracie on Feb. 22, 2014 with a service at 11:00 a.m. at Springhill Presbyterian Church, 4769 W. Babcock, Bozeman. Reception following at The American Legion, 225 E. Main St., Bozeman. Memorials may be made in the name of Grace Louise Cornes Denk to: Stafford Animal Shelter, 3 Business Park Road, Livingston, MT 59047 or K9s for Wounded Warriors, 260 S.
